(May 26, 2008) It has always been part of Crossfire’s mission, as a non-profit organization, to extend the opportunities that exist within the club to all those who have a passion and talent for the game of soccer, regardless of a players financial background. In order to do this we have traditionally relied on the generosity of the parents and friends of Crossfire. But, in recent years fundraising levels have not been able to fully satisfy the demand from the talented boys and girls interested in playing. Therefore, in order to expand Crossfire’s financial aid program, the Board decided to approach various corporations in our area with a reputation for investing in the community. I am pleased to announce that we have found two such companies in T-Mobile and Nokia. We were able to leverage the global relationship these two companies have in mobile communications to dramatically impact the lives of deserving kids in our community.
It is critically important to these sponsors that everyone understand how 100% of the investments made into Crossfire will go to the financial aid program. These funds are not provided for marketing sponsorship of Crossfire, and the use of T-mobile and Nokia logos on our uniforms is at the request of Crossfire to elevate exposure of the club both nationally and globally.
Although there is no formal mechanism, other than via this announcement, to thank these companies for their generosity, I would hope that all parents, players and coaches embrace the spirit in which T-Mobile and Nokia have donated to Crossfire, by playing and supporting the team with pride and sportsman like behavior while wearing these new world class uniforms.
